DESCRIPTION:The FDI World Dental Congress (FDI WDC) provides a scientific programme\, a trade exhibition and an international forum for the review and discussion of the advancement of oral health\, oral health care and all other subjects which will advance the objectives of FDI. It provides an opportunity for the strengthening of relations between the dental organizations\, peoples and countries of the world. \nUpcoming 2018 Congress\n \nThe next Congress will take place in Buenos Aires\, Argentina from 5–8 September 2018. Click on the banner to access the Congress website to find out more about the Scientific Programme\, the location\, how to submit an abstract\, and how to register. \n View World Dental Congress website\n\nCongress structure\nThe structure of the World Dental Congress may vary in detail according to local circumstances\, but the main elements of the Congress are: \n\nScientific Programme\nGeneral Assembly and other business meetings of FDI – the FDI World Dental Parliament\nWorld Oral Forum\nFDI World Dental Exhibition\nSocial Programme\n\nThe Scientific Sessions \nFDI and its Education Committee collaborate with the Local Organizing Committee to design a diverse scientific programme with international speakers. \nFDI General Assembly  \nThe FDI WDC is the time of year when the General Assembly meets. Over 300 FDI delegates get together during five days to debate and take decisions that will influence the future of dentistry. \nIt is also during the FDI WDC that the five standing committees get together to further progress on the projects they work on throughout the rest of the year. This is also when the annual meeting of the FDI Sections and Regional Organizations takes place. \nKey Opinion Leaders from the World Dental community get together in a single location once a year at the FDI WDC. \nThe World Oral Health Forum (WOHF) \nThe 2012 Hong Kong congress was the birth place of our very first World Oral Health Forum. Inspiring ourselves from the Davos World Economic Forum model\, and in line with the Vision 2020 project. \nDuring the WOHF\, FDI organizes a number of sessions with speakers from various backgrounds to debate on global topics related to the future of oral health. \nThe session is about one hour long and consists of short presentations by panelists (no slides)\, followed by discussion and Q/A. \nEach of these sessions is addressing global issues relevant to dentists\, but also more generally to society. The aim is to educate FDI’s members and confront them with ideas that are not discussed in dental congresses\, meeting with people who might not regularly attend dental events. \nThe concept was launched in Hong Kong for the first time. Panels consist of (and may vary depending on topics): \n\nOne representative from an international organisation (WHO\, UN\, UICEF\, etc) or from a political body (Minister of Health\, environment\, economy\, etc)\nOne representative from the dental and oral health industry\nOne or two representatives from FDI membership\nOne representative from a non-dental organization (cardiologists\, IT\, etc)\n\nPresented topics: \n\nFDI Vision 2020\nGreen Dentistry and sustainable development\nCaries – a silent epidemic\n\nEarly feedback from our stakeholders leads us to believe that this event will be a great success. The plan for the future is that a full day will be dedicated to the Forum at the FDI WDC. Obviamente que el sitio es sumamente atractivo para quienes aman el mar\, pero no sólo eso\, pues cuenta con puntos interesantes que satisfacen tanto al turista de placer como de negocios\, es un destino también de historia\, cultura y tradición. \nEn La Quebrada\, esa piedra saliente de 35 metros de altura a la orilla del mar\, verán a los clavadistas caer hacia la noche iluminada por antorchas. La Casa de los Vientos exhibe “La serpiente emplumada”\, el mural de Diego Rivera. Barra Vieja les hará recordar la vastedad del mar. La Laguna de Coyuca ofrece una paleta de colores naranjas y rojos al ponerse el sol. \nEn Pie de la Cuesta encontrarán el sonido del mar incansable mientras se disfruta de una caminata larga. En Acapulco convive la cultura nocturna con las playas más contrastantes\, donde encontrarán donde nadar\, dar una caminata o simplemente ver la puesta de sol. \nAcapulco limita al sur con el Océano Pacífico\, al norte con los municipios de Juan R. Escudero y Chilpancingo\, al oeste con San Marcos y al este con Coyuca de Benítez. Es un destino totalmente accesible ya que se puede arribar a él: vía aérea\, terrestre y marítima. El Aeropuerto Internacional Juan N. Álvarez de Acapulco es la conexión aérea de la ciudad con los principales destinos internacionales y nacionales. \nAcapulco es un destino de clima tropical. Las temperaturas se mantienen durante todo el año con una mínima de 23 °C y una máxima de 38° C. El temporal de lluvia es de Junio a Septiembre. Se estima que hoy en día la población sea de aproximadamente 450.000 habitantes. \n\nReseña Histórica del Estado Nueva Esparta \nCristóbal Colon la diviso en su tercer viaje en el ario 1498\, la bautizo y le dio el nombre de Margarita\, no por las perlas que en abundancia se crían en el fondo del mar que la rodea\, sino en honor a la infanta de Austria que se encontraba de visita en España. \nLos primitivos pobladores de la Isla de Margarita fueron los Indios Guaiqueries\, de buena estatura\, gran fuerza muscular\, de piel bronceada. Quienes la conocían con el nombre de “PARAGUAICOA”\, término que para algunos investigadores quiere decir “peces en abundancia” y para otros “gente de mar”. Los Guaiqueries eran pescadores expertos\, se mantenían sobre todo de los productos del mar; también fueron pequeños agricultores que se aprovechaban de la fertilidad de los valles\, para efectuar sus cultivos\, fueron diestros marinos. En sus piraguas alcanzaron el rio Orinoco y todas las costas del oriente y centro de Venezuela\, en operaciones de trueque.
